Yahoo Aims for Direction With Entertainment Division Shakeup
Although the issue was broached openly on the company blog by Vince Broady, Head of Entertainment and Video, the change in direction is rumored to be on the agenda for tomorrow's closed leadership meeting. But based on Broady's description of the restructure, it seems like the move will be less of a hack and slash job and more of a strategic regrouping for the previously scattered division

Microsoft livens up Live Search to battle Google and Yahoo
Microsoft on Thursday began phasing in a slick new version of its Live Search service in a bid to gain ground on leading Internet search rivals Google and Yahoo.
Microsoft's improved Live Search will be available throughout the United States in a week and globally by the end of October, according to vice president of search and advertising platform group Satya Nadella.
"The core thing for us is to show user we made a quantum jump in search results," Nadella said while demonstrating Search at an invitation-only gathering at Microsoft's campus in Mountain View, California.
"This time, we feel we can claim we are as good as Google."
Google, based in Mountain View, is the world's most popular Internet search engine. California-based Yahoo ranks second. Live, which replaced Microsoft's MSN search service in 2006, has been mired in distant third place.
"Relevance of results has been my big gripe about Live Search in the past," Gartner analyst Van Baker told AFP during a "Searchification" event at which the enhancements were unveiled.
"It fell short of Google in relevance and I think Microsoft is catching up. The downside is Microsoft's messaging sucks. They need to give Internet users a reason to give Live Search another try, and that is missing," he added.

Student Arrested at University of Florida
Wednesday, September 19, 2007
I actually disagree with the way things were handled. The guy was only asking questions. Questions that it seemed Senator Kerry were about to answer before Myers was detained.
A University of Florida student (Andrew Myers) stepped up to the mic and began asking John Kerry a bunch of interesting questions during his visit to the campus. I believe asking him if he was a member of the secret society Skull & Bones finally caused the police to arrest him and eventually get tasered.
I actually disagree with the way things were handled. The guy was only asking questions. Questions that it seemed Senator Kerry were about to answer before Myers was detained.

Britney ordered to undergo random drug tests
The commissioner, ruling in a dispute between Spears and her former husband, Kevin Federline, over custody of their two children, also ruled that she must meet with a parenting coach.
Federline wanted to reconsider the pair's child custody agreement amid several high-profile incidents of erratic behavior by Spears.
Despite taking Spears to task, Commissioner Scott M. Gordon did not change the custody agreement, which gives each parent shared custody of the children.
The court proceeding comes about a year after Spears, 25, filed for divorce from Federline, 29, after two years of marriage.
The pair, who cited irreconcilable differences, have shared custody of the two boys since February.

Tuesday, September 18, 2007
Mash has already been dubbed “an homage to Facebook” – but with a difference: users of the new Yahoo site can edit each other’s profiles. “Think the Wikipedia version of a social network,” the New York Times said.
Executives at Yahoo, under immense pressure to rejuvenate the ailing internet giant, were more cagey. “Ongoing product innovation is important to Yahoo and we continue to test various products and services to gain feedback from our users,” a spokesman said.
