Britney ordered to undergo random drug tests

A Los Angeles County Court commissioner laid down the law to singer Britney Spears on Tuesday, saying there was evidence that the pop star was "a habitual, frequent and continuous" user of drugs and alcohol and ordered mandatory, random twice-weekly drug tests.The commissioner, ruling in a dispute between Spears and her former husband, Kevin Federline, over custody of their two children, also ruled that she must meet with a parenting coach.
Federline wanted to reconsider the pair's child custody agreement amid several high-profile incidents of erratic behavior by Spears.
Despite taking Spears to task, Commissioner Scott M. Gordon did not change the custody agreement, which gives each parent shared custody of the children.
The court proceeding comes about a year after Spears, 25, filed for divorce from Federline, 29, after two years of marriage.
The pair, who cited irreconcilable differences, have shared custody of the two boys since February.

Britney Spears not to appear at Emmys

Negotiations between Britney Spears’ camp and Emmy producers have ended, as Spears has refused to appear on the awards event scheduled for Sept 16, 2007.Ryan Seacrest, the show’s host said that talks are on to rope in the ‘Toxic’ star.
“I’m trying to figure out how Britney fits into the context of television’s biggest night…I don’t know anything about it… it’s a possible first step,” US magazine quoted Ryan Seacrest, the show’s host, as saying.
A source said that the idea was “to have her come on and apologize for the VMAs.”
However, a spokesperson for Jive, Spears’ label, has revealed that Spears will not make an appearance on the awards show.
"Britney Spears has no plans to appear on the Emmys this Sunday,” the spokesperson said. (ANI)

The blogs have spoken loud and clear about Britney Spears’ would-be “comeback performance” at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday night. The verdict can be summed up in two words: Train. Wreck. The performance (YouTube video of which is here) was supposed to be a return to the spotlight for the singer, who is currently embroiled in a custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline, but it quickly became a lightning rod for criticism as the somewhat pudgy Spears forgot words and stumbled through a lacklustre routine. Heckler Spray: said that Britney -- who in previous years has danced with a snake and French-kissed Madonna -- chose to wear “a skimpy outfit that showed off her twice-pregnant gut” and then spent the rest of the performance “lurching around miming her new single, while dancing like your Dad at the end of a wedding reception.”
PerezHilton: the king of celebrity bloggers thought the routine was so bad that he wrote an open letter to the singer in which he said that he was “insulted, offended and disgusted by your “performance” at the VMAs. Are you f…ing serious??? What you did was disrespectful to your few remaining fans. And it was disrespectful to MTV! You didn’t even try!!!!!” Hilton went on to say that Britney should have cancelled her show if she wasn’t ready to perform, that her routine was “beyond pathetic,” and that “the old Britney Spears” would have been embarrassed. He added that she “seemed dead on stage” and “couldn’t even get good hair extensions.”
Jossip: the gossip site said Spears’ “lethargic” performance was “a lackluster sight to behold. Picture, if you will, the slightly overweight washed-up pop star, clad only in an ill-fitting black bikini, lip-syncing lazily to her brand new hit single while halfheartedly gyrating.”

Stripping down to just her smalls, Britney performed a raunchy dance routine and lip-synched to her new song with a team of back-up dancers that ended in a mock-orgy.The performance has already scored bad reviews. Nekesa Mumbi from news agency Associated Press called Britney "out-of-shape" and "out-of-touch".
"She looked bleary and unprepared - much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles," Mumbi said.
"She lazily walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching; and, perhaps most unforgivable given her once taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape.
